The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center at UW Hospital and Clinics, was established as one of the first university-based comprehensive cancer centers nationally in 1973.

The UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) is the only comprehensive cancer center in Wisconsin, as designated by the National Cancer Institute. The National Cancer Institute supports the research of scientists and physicians across the country to find the best ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.

The Best Cancer Care
The UWCCC's most visible role is providing the best available to more than 30,000 people annually through diagnosis, therapy, follow up care, or a second opinion. Patients have access to a team of specialists whose expertise ranges from bone marrow transplantation to urology and from pediatrics to geriatrics.

The UWCCC's greatest strength is its involvement in groundbreaking clinical trials, research studies conducted to answer specific scientific questions about new ways to prevent, diagnose, detect and treat cancer. Clinical trials not only offer patients access to state-of-the-art therapies – which can be the best hope for effective treatment- but also enable progress in cancer research.
